CloudNativePG is a platform designed to manage PostgreSQL databases within Kubernetes environments. Prior to 1.29.1 and 1.28.3, the CloudNativePG metrics exporter opens its PostgreSQL connection as the postgres superuser via the pod-local Unix socket, then demotes the session with SET ROLE pg_monitor. SET ROLE changes only current_user; session_user remains postgres. Any SQL expression evaluated inside the scrape session can invoke RESET ROLE to recover real superuser privileges, then use COPY ... TO PROGRAM to spawn an OS-level subprocess as the postgres user inside the primary pod. The READ ONLY transaction flag does not block this; it gates writes to database state, not external processes. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.29.1 and 1.28.3.
Deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability in QOS.CH Sarl logback logback-core (HardenedObjectInputStream (logback-core) modules) allows Object Injection albeit heavily restricted. More precisely, an attacker able to influence serialized data sent to SimpleSocketServer or SimpleSSLSocketServer can instantiate objects from classes in the java.lang and java.util packages that are not explicitly blocked. Although deserialization is heavily restricted by HardenedObjectInputStream and no practical way to achieve remote code execution or significant privilege escalation has been identified, this issue constitutes a bypass of the intended security restrictions. This issue affects logback: through 1.5.32 inclusive.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vsock: fix buffer size clamping order In vsock_update_buffer_size(), the buffer size was being clamped to the maximum first, and then to the minimum. If a user sets a minimum buffer size larger than the maximum, the minimum check overrides the maximum check, inverting the constraint. This breaks the intended socket memory boundaries by allowing the vsk->buffer_size to grow beyond the configured vsk->buffer_max_size. Fix this by checking the minimum first, and then the maximum. This ensures the buffer size never exceeds the buffer_max_size.
