nanoid (Nano ID) before 5.1.6 contains an infinite loop in the customAlphabet and customRandom functions. When these functions are configured with a size of 0, the internal generation loop never satisfies its exit condition and spins indefinitely, hanging the calling thread. An application that passes an unvalidated, attacker-controlled size of 0 to these functions is exposed to a denial-of-service condition.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: Fix infinite loop in layout state revocation find_one_sb_stid() skips stids whose sc_status is non-zero, but the SC_TYPE_LAYOUT case in nfsd4_revoke_states() never sets sc_status before calling nfsd4_close_layout(). The retry loop therefore finds the same layout stid on every iteration, hanging the revoker indefinitely.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio: prevent infinite loop in vfio_mig_get_next_state() on blocked arc vfio_mig_get_next_state() walks vfio_from_fsm_table[] one step at a time, looping to skip optional states the device does not support until *next_fsm is supported. A blocked transition is encoded as VFIO_DEVICE_STATE_ERROR, which the trailing return reports as -EINVAL. The skip loop does not account for the ERROR sentinel. state_flags_table[ERROR] is ~0U and vfio_from_fsm_table[ERROR][*] is ERROR, so once *next_fsm becomes ERROR the loop condition stays true and *next_fsm never changes. The blocked arcs STOP_COPY -> PRE_COPY and STOP_COPY -> PRE_COPY_P2P map to ERROR yet pass the support check on a precopy-capable device, causing the loop to spin forever while holding the driver state mutex. This can result in a soft lockup, and a panic with softlockup_panic set. Terminate the skip loop on the ERROR sentinel so a blocked transition falls through to the existing return and reports -EINVAL.

The btmtksdio_txrx_work() loop is expected to be terminated if running for longer than 5*HZ. However the timeout check is twisted: time_is_before_jiffies(old_jiffies + 5*HZ) evaluates to true when old_jiffies + 5*HZ is in the past i.e. when a timeout has occurred. Using OR with time_is_before_jiffies(txrx_timeout) means that: - before the 5-second timeout: the condition is `int_status || false`, so it loops as long as there are pending interrupts. - after the 5-second timeout: the condition becomes `int_status || true`, which is always true. When the loop becomes infinite btmtksdio_txrx_work() loop never terminates and never releases the SDIO host. Fix loop termination condition to actually enforce a 5*HZ timeout.

A flaw was found in libcupsfilters. The cfIEEE1284NormalizeMakeModel() function enters an infinite loop when processing a printer-advertised IEEE-1284 device ID with an empty model field, causing sustained CPU consumption. A network-adjacent attacker could exploit this by broadcasting a specially crafted printer advertisement, leading to denial of service.

FFmpeg versions 0.6.3 through 8.1.2 contain an infinite loop vulnerability in the RTP/ASF demuxer within libavformat/rtpdec_asf.c that allows remote attackers to cause denial of service by sending a crafted RTP/ASF stream. The rtp_asf_fix_header function fails to validate a minimum chunksize when iterating over ASF objects, causing the loop pointer to never advance when a chunksize is smaller than the 24-byte minimum ASF object header size, resulting in CPU exhaustion that denies service to legitimate users.

Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') vulnerability in Erlang OTP ssh (ssh_sftpd module) allows an authenticated SFTP user to render an SFTP channel permanently unresponsive. The handle_data/4 function in ssh_sftpd contains a catch-all clause that accepts channel data of any type. When channel data with a non-zero type code (SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_EXTENDED_DATA) arrives with an empty pending buffer and a payload at or below the SFTP packet size limit, the clause tail-calls itself with identical arguments, creating an infinite loop. The SFTP protocol operates exclusively on normal channel data (type 0). Extended data (non-zero type) is meaningless for SFTP and is never sent by conforming clients. However, the SSH protocol permits any channel participant to send extended data on an open channel, so an authenticated SFTP client can trigger the loop by sending SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_EXTENDED_DATA with any data_type_code and any non-empty payload at or below the size limit. The targeted ssh_sftpd process enters an infinite tail-recursive loop. It never processes another message, its message queue grows without bound, and it can only be stopped by killing the process. BEAM's reduction-based scheduler preemption continues to function, so other processes on the node are not starved, but each stuck channel process consumes its full CPU time share continuously and accumulates unbounded message queue memory. Opening many channels amplifies the CPU and memory impact. Erlang/OTP SSH configurations using the default max_channels setting (infinity) allow an authenticated user to open unlimited channels per connection, amplifying the attack without requiring multiple TCP connections or authentications. No file contents, credentials, or write access are obtainable through this issue. The impact is limited to denial of service on targeted SFTP channels, with secondary CPU degradation and memory growth. This vulnerability is associated with program file lib/ssh/src/ssh_sftpd.erl and program routine ssh_sftpd:handle_data/4. This issue affects OTP from OTP 17.0 before OTP 29.0.3, OTP 28.5.0.3 and OTP 27.3.4.14, corresponding to ssh from 3.0.1 before 6.0.2, 5.5.2.2 and 5.2.11.9.

A flaw was found in GStreamer's RealMedia demuxer in the gst-plugins-ugly package. When processing a RealMedia file containing a specially crafted FILEINFO metadata section, the demuxer parses variable-name and variable-value pairs using re_skip_pascal_string() without validating that offsets remain within the mapped buffer. Additionally, the element count controlling the parsing loop is read from attacker-controlled data without validation, which can cause an infinite loop. A crafted RealMedia file can cause the application to crash, hang, or potentially read limited adjacent memory contents.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: isofs: validate Rock Ridge CE continuation extent against volume size rock_continue() reads rs->cont_extent verbatim from the Rock Ridge CE record and passes it to sb_bread() without checking that the block number is within the mounted ISO 9660 volume. commit e595447e177b ("[PATCH] rock.c: handle corrupted directories") added cont_offset and cont_size rejection for the CE continuation but did not validate the extent block number itself. commit f54e18f1b831 ("isofs: Fix infinite looping over CE entries") later capped the CE chain length at RR_MAX_CE_ENTRIES = 32 but again left the block number unchecked. With a crafted ISO mounted via udisks2 (desktop optical auto-mount) or via CAP_SYS_ADMIN mount, rs->cont_extent can therefore point at an out-of-range block or at blocks belonging to an adjacent filesystem on the same block device. sb_bread() on an out-of-range block returns NULL cleanly via the block layer EIO path, so there is no memory-safety violation. For in-range reads of adjacent- filesystem data, the CE buffer is parsed as Rock Ridge records and only the text of SL sub-records reaches userspace through readlink(), which makes the info-leak channel narrow and difficult to exploit; still, rejecting the malformed CE outright matches the rejection shape already present in the same function for cont_offset and cont_size. Add an ISOFS_SB(sb)->s_nzones bounds check to rock_continue() next to the existing offset/size rejection, printing the same corrupted-directory-entry notice.
