pdm is a Python package and dependency manager supporting the latest PEP standards. In versions prior to 2.27.0, pdm writes several project-local state or configuration files without symlink protection. If a malicious repository places those files as symlinks, local PDM operations can overwrite the symlink targets. This creates an arbitrary file clobber primitive relative to the privileges of the invoking user. Config.__init__() resolves the project-local pdm.toml path and _save_config() writes to the resolved target. If PROJECT_ROOT/pdm.toml is a symlink to another file, pdm config -l ... updates the target file instead of refusing the write. The same general problem exists for other project-local persistence paths that are written directly with no lstat / O_NOFOLLOW protection. For the pdm.toml PoC specifically, the target file must already contain parseable TOML. Otherwise the load step fails before the write path is reached. That parser constraint does not apply to the .pdm-python or .python-version sinks. This issue has been fixed in version 2.27.0.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix potential for tearing in ->remote_i_size and ->zero_point Fix potential tearing in using ->remote_i_size and ->zero_point by copying i_size_read() and i_size_write() and using the same seqcount as for i_size. We need to make sure that netfslib and the filesystems that use it always hold i_lock whilst updating any of the sizes to prevent i_size_seqcount from getting corrupted.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/memory: fix spurious warning when unmapping device-private/exclusive pages Device private and exclusive entries are only supported for anonymous folios. This condition is tested in __migrate_device_pages() and make_device_exclusive() using folio_test_anon(). However the unmap path tests this assumption using vma_is_anonymous(). This is wrong because whilst anonymous VMAs can only contain folios where folio_test_anon() is true the opposite relation does not hold. A folio for which folio_test_anon() is true does not imply vma_is_anonymous() is true. Such a condition can occur if for example a folio is part of a private filebacked mapping. In this case vma_is_anonymous() is false as the mapping is filebacked, but folio_test_anon() may be true, thus permitting devices to migrate the folio to device private memory. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix streaming write being overwritten In order to avoid reading whilst writing, netfslib will allow "streaming writes" in which dirty data is stored directly into folios without reading them first. Such folios are marked dirty but may not be marked uptodate. If a folio is entirely written by a streaming write, uptodate will be set, otherwise it will have a netfs_folio struct attached to ->private recording the dirty region. In the event that a partially written streaming write page is to be overwritten entirely by a single write(), netfs_perform_write() will try to copy over it, but doesn't discard the netfs_folio if it succeeds; further, it doesn't correctly handle a partial copy that overwrites some of the dirty data. Fix this by the following: (1) If the folio is successfully overwritten, free the netfs_folio struct before marking the page uptodate. (2) If the copy to the folio partially fails, but short of the dirty data, just ignore the copy. (3) If the copy partially fails and overwrites some of the dirty data, accept the copy, update the netfs_folio struct to record the new data. If the folio is now filled, free the netfs_folio and set uptodate, otherwise return a partial write. Music Player Daemon (MPD) before version 0.24.11 contains a path traversal vulnerability in LocalStorage::MapFSOrThrow and LocalStorage::MapUTF8 within the local storage plugin, where the on-disk path is constructed by joining the storage root with a user-supplied URI as plain strings without canonicalization, allowing '..' segments to survive into the resolved path and be flattened by the kernel at openat() time. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this flaw using the listfiles command to enumerate names, sizes, and modification times of arbitrary directories readable by the MPD process, and the albumart command to read image files in any attacker-chosen directory outside the configured music_directory.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Fix re-decryption of RESPONSE packets If a RESPONSE packet gets a temporary failure during processing, it may end up in a partially decrypted state - and then get requeued for a retry. Fix this by just discarding the packet; we will send another CHALLENGE packet and thereby elicit a further response. Similarly, discard an incoming CHALLENGE packet if we get an error whilst generating a RESPONSE; the server will send another CHALLENGE.

Algernon is a small self-contained pure-Go web server. Prior to 1.17.6, in engine/luahandler.go, the sync.RWMutex protecting LoadCommonFunctions is released before L.Push() and L.PCall() execute. Since gopher-lua's LState is explicitly not goroutine-safe, concurrent requests race on the shared state causing Lua VM corruption. The Go race detector confirms this immediately under modest concurrency (ab -n 1000 -c 100). This vulnerability is fixed in 1.17.6.

Rsync version 3.4.2 and prior contain symlink race condition vulnerabilities in path-based system calls including chmod, lchown, utimes, rename, unlink, mkdir, symlink, mknod, link, rmdir, and lstat that allow local attackers to redirect operations to files outside the exported rsync module. Attackers with local filesystem access can exploit the timing window between path resolution and syscall execution by swapping symlinks to apply sender-supplied permissions, ownership, timestamps, or filenames to arbitrary files outside the intended module boundary on rsync daemons configured with 'use chroot = no'.

rust-openssl provides OpenSSL bindings for the Rust programming language. From 0.9.7 to before 0.10.79, X509Ref::ocsp_responders returns OCSP responder URLs from a certificate's AIA extension as OpensslString, whose Deref<Target = str> wraps the raw bytes with str::from_utf8_unchecked. OpenSSL does not enforce that the underlying IA5String is ASCII, so a certificate with non-UTF-8 bytes in its OCSP accessLocation causes safe Rust code to construct a &str that violates the UTF-8 invariant — resulting in undefined behavior. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.10.79.

When an application exposes the language-code selection to user-controlled input (the default — i18next-browser-languagedetector reads ?lng= query params, cookies, localStorage, and request headers), an attacker can inject characters that change the structure of the outgoing request URL. This is a single URL-injection vulnerability. The attacker-controlled value is neutralised before it is used as part of an output URL string; the attack shape covers both path traversal and broader URL-structure injection — both are closed by the one interpolateUrl sanitisation fix. This issue has been fixed in version 3.0.5. If users cannot upgrade immediately, they can work around the issue by sanitising lng / ns before they reach i18next (strip .., /, \, ?, #, %, whitespace, and control characters; cap the length).

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfs: Replace BUG_ON with error handling for CNID count checks In a06ec283e125 next_id, folder_count, and file_count in the super block info were expanded to 64 bits, and BUG_ONs were added to detect overflow. This triggered an error reported by syzbot: if the MDB is corrupted, the BUG_ON is triggered. This patch replaces this mechanism with proper error handling and resolves the syzbot reported bug. Improper Handling of TLS Client Authentication Failure Leading to Anonymous Principal Assignment in Apache Storm Versions Affected: up to 2.8.7 Description: When TLS transport is enabled in Apache Storm without requiring client certificate authentication (the default configuration), the TlsTransportPlugin assigns a fallback principal (CN=ANONYMOUS) if no client certificate is presented or if certificate verification fails. The underlying SSLPeerUnverifiedException is caught and suppressed rather than rejecting the connection. This fail-open behavior means an unauthenticated client can establish a TLS connection and receive a valid principal identity. If the configured authorizer (e.g., SimpleACLAuthorizer) does not explicitly deny access to CN=ANONYMOUS, this may result in unauthorized access to Storm services. The condition is logged at debug level only, reducing visibility in production. Impact: Unauthenticated clients may be assigned a principal identity, potentially bypassing authorization in permissive or misconfigured environments. Mitigation: Users should upgrade to 2.8.7 in which TLS authentication failures are handled in a fail-closed manner. A STARTTLS Response Injection vulnerability in versions prior to 4.16.0 allows a Man-in-the-Middle attacker to inject arbitrary protocol responses across the plaintext-to-TLS trust boundary, enabling SASL authentication mechanism downgrade (e.g., forcing PLAIN instead of SCRAM-SHA-256). The internal read buffer in `SmtpStream`, `ImapStream`, and `Pop3Stream` is not flushed when the underlying stream is replaced with `SslStream` during STARTTLS upgrade, causing pre-TLS attacker-injected data to be processed as trusted post-TLS responses. Version 4.16.0 patches the issue.

Solstice::Session versions through 1440 for Perl generates session ids insecurely. The _generateSessionID method returns an MD5 digest seeded by the epoch time, a random hash reference, a call to the built-in rand() function and the process id. The same method is used in the _generateID method in Solstice::Subsession, which is part of the same distribution. The epoch time may be guessed, if it is not leaked in the HTTP Date header. Stringified hash refences will contain predictable content. The built-in rand() function is seeded by 16-bits and is unsuitable for security purposes. The process id comes from a small set of numbers. Predictable session ids could allow an attacker to gain access to systems.
