Spring AI's spring-ai-neo4j-store contains a Cypher injection vulnerability in Neo4jVectorFilterExpressionConverter. When a user-controlled string is passed as a filter expression key in Neo4jVectorFilterExpressionConverter of spring-ai-neo4j-store, doKey() embeds the key into a backtick-delimited Cypher property accessor (node.`metadata.`) after stripping only double quotes, without escaping embedded backticks.This issue affects Spring AI: from 1.0.0 before 1.0.5, from 1.1.0 before 1.1.4.

Graphiti is a framework for building and querying temporal context graphs for AI agents. Graphiti versions before 0.28.2 contained a Cypher injection vulnerability in shared search-filter construction for non-Kuzu backends. Attacker-controlled label values supplied through SearchFilters.node_labels were concatenated directly into Cypher label expressions without validation. In MCP deployments, this was exploitable not only through direct untrusted access to the Graphiti MCP server, but also through prompt injection against an LLM client that could be induced to call search_nodes with attacker-controlled entity_types values. The MCP server mapped entity_types to SearchFilters.node_labels, which then reached the vulnerable Cypher construction path. Affected backends included Neo4j, FalkorDB, and Neptune. Kuzu was not affected by the label-injection issue because it used parameterized label handling rather than string-interpolated Cypher labels. This issue was mitigated in 0.28.2.

An edgecase in SSO implementation in Neo4j Enterprise edition versions prior to version 2026.02 can lead to unauthorised access under the following conditions: If a neo4j admin configures two or more OIDC providers AND configures one or more of them to be an authorization provider AND configures one or more of them to be authentication-only, then those that are authentication-only will also provide authorization. This edgecase becomes a security problem only if the authentication-only provider contains groups which have higher privileges than provided by the intended (configured) authorization provider. When using multiple plugins for authentication and authorisation, prior to the fix the issue could lead to a plugin configured to provide only authentication or authorisation capabilities erroneously providing both capabilities.  We recommend upgrading to versions 2026.02 (or 5.26.22) where the issue is fixed.

Excessive caching of authentication context in Neo4j Enterprise edition versions prior to 2026.01.4 leads to authenticated users inheriting the context of the first user who authenticated after restart. The issue is limited to certain non-default configurations of SSO (UserInfo endpoint).  We recommend upgrading to versions 2026.01.4 (or 5.26.22) where the issue is fixed.

Incorrect resolving of namespaces in composite databases in Neo4j Enterprise edition prior to versions 2026.02 and 5.26.22 can lead to the following scenario:  an admin that intends to give a user an access to a remote database constituent "namespace.name" will inadvertently grant access to any local database or remote alias called "name". If such database or alias doesn't exist when the command is run, the privileges will apply if it's created in the future.

Neo4j Enterprise and Community editions versions prior to 2026.01.3 and 5.26.21 are vulnerable to a potential information disclosure by a user who has ability to access the local log files. The "obfuscate_literals" option in the query logs does not redact error information, exposing unredacted data in the query log when a customer writes a query that fails. It can allow a user with legitimate access to the local log files to obtain information they are not authorised to see. If this user is also in a position to run queries and trigger errors, this vulnerability can potentially help them to infer information they are not authorised to see through their intended database access. We recommend upgrading to versions 2026.01.3 (or 5.26.21) where the issue is fixed, and reviewing query log files permissions to ensure restricted access. If your configuration had db.logs.query.obfuscate_literals enabled, and you wish the obfuscation to cover the error messages as well, you need to enable the new configuration setting db.logs.query.obfuscate_errors once you have upgraded Neo4j.

Neo4j Enterprise edition versions prior to 2025.11.2 and 5.26.17 are vulnerable to a potential information disclosure by an attacker who has some legitimate access to the database. The vulnerability allows attacker without read access to a property to infer information about its value by trying to enumerate all possible values through observing error messages of SET property. We recommend upgrading to 2025.11.2 or 5.26.17 and above, where the issues is fixed.

DNS rebinding vulnerability in Neo4j Cypher MCP server allows malicious websites to bypass Same-Origin Policy protections and execute unauthorised tool invocations against locally running Neo4j MCP instances. The attack relies on the user being enticed to visit a malicious website and spend sufficient time there for DNS rebinding to succeed.

An issue was discovered in mcp-neo4j 0.3.0 allowing attackers to obtain sensitive information or execute arbitrary commands via the SSE service. NOTE: the Supplier's position is that authentication is not mandatory for MCP servers, and the mcp-neo4j MCP server is only intended for use in a local environment where authentication realistically would not be needed. Also, the Supplier provides middleware to help isolate the MCP server from external access (if needed).

The Cypher component in Neo4j 5.0.0 through 5.18 mishandles IMMUTABLE privileges in some situations where an attacker already has admin access.

APOC (Awesome Procedures on Cypher) is an add-on library for Neo4j. An XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability found in the apoc.import.graphml procedure of APOC core plugin prior to version 5.5.0 and 4.4.0.14 (4.4 branch) in Neo4j graph database. XML External Entity (XXE) injection occurs when the XML parser allows external entities to be resolved. The XML parser used by the apoc.import.graphml procedure was not configured in a secure way and therefore allowed this. External entities can be used to read local files, send HTTP requests, and perform denial-of-service attacks on the application. Abusing the XXE vulnerability enabled assessors to read local files remotely. Although with the level of privileges assessors had this was limited to one-line files. With the ability to write to the database, any file could have been read. Additionally, assessors noted, with local testing, the server could be crashed by passing in improperly formatted XML. The minimum version containing a patch for this vulnerability is 5.5.0. Those who cannot upgrade the library can control the allowlist of the procedures that can be used in your system.

APOC (Awesome Procedures on Cypher) is an add-on library for Neo4j that provides hundreds of procedures and functions. A path traversal vulnerability found in the apoc.export.* procedures of apoc plugins in Neo4j Graph database. The issue allows a malicious actor to potentially break out of the expected directory. The vulnerability is such that files could only be created but not overwritten. For the vulnerability to be exploited, an attacker would need access to execute an arbitrary query, either by having access to an authenticated Neo4j client, or a Cypher injection vulnerability in an application. The minimum versions containing patch for this vulnerability are 4.4.0.12 and 4.3.0.12 and 5.3.1. As a workaround, you can control the allowlist of the procedures that can be used in your system, and/or turn off local file access by setting apoc.export.file.enabled=false.
